I have attached here the link to the section of the Apple Store that helps you set up and troubleshoot your iPad.

This pdf of the iPad user guide is also worth saving to iBooks.

My Pinterest

I mentioned Pinterest in my last post so I thought I would give you the link to my Pinterest board about using iPads in the school. When selecting pins I have mainly stayed with those that focus on using iPads creatively rather than those that list good apps. There are some fantastic lesson ideas here.

So Many Possibilities

Wow! So far I have spent countless hours of my holidays searching the Internet for ideas for iPads. I have always been a great believer of the potential of iPads in the classroom and have dedicated many hours to convincing others of this. But, even so, I am still blown away with the ever increasing possibilities. For those looking for a great source of ideas one word - Pinterest (it's also an app!). So many ideas.

My favourite apps at the moment are Skitch and PicCollage for annotating photos. They are both free and can be used in so many different ways.

My Frequently Visited iPad Folders

I thought it would be fun to upload photos of my favourite folders on my iPad. Lots of these apps have been mentioned in previous posts and there are others that are not here that I visit quite frequently also, but these are certainly the folders that I visit on my iPad several times a day. As many of these are paid apps, they are not all on the students iPad sets but many of them are.

Digital Literacies

At KPS our focus is on students using iPads to create products. In addition to the apps we purchased for all our iPads, we utilise a lot of free apps to help us in these workflow style lessons.

This vimeo lists some lesson ideas for creating digital literacies using iPads.

Purchasing of Apps

After originally purchasing apps through iTunes vouchers and then gifting apps with a credit card, now that it is available, we  are finding Apple's Volume Purchasing Program very useful. While purchasing a licence for every app on every iPad is expensive, it is the only way to be Apple compliant as an educational institution. With the VPP, there is a 50% discount when you buy 20 or over. Purchasing of apps is done centrally but then the codes are used to redeem the app on each iPad separately. Teachers are then able to download free apps as they wish. Purchasing apps this way, because we obviously need to stick to a budget, also forces teachers to be more creative in the way they use the available apps.

Additionally, Apps Gone Free is a free app that I use to look out for apps that are free for a day or for a short period of time.
